  1. POP-UP MENUS
  2. ============
  3.  
  4.  PMPro presents the picture specific functions in the form of two
  5.  popup menus. While the user popup menu is freely configurable
  6.  the normal popup menu contains fixed unchangeable functions.
  7.  
  8.  
  9.  User Popup Menu
  10.  ---------------
  11.   The User Popup Menu may be freely configured according to your own
  12.   needs. You may also freely change names as well as the linked functions
  13.   of the buttons. Configuration has to be managed via the menu
  14.   SETTINGS/USER-POPUP. Please read the corresponding chapter for more
  15.   information.

  18.  Standard Popup Menu
  19.  -------------------
  20.   This Popup Menu supplies picture specific functions.
  21.   These are always related to the icon where the mouse pointer
  22.   is positioned.
  23.   These functions are different to the User Popup and are not changeable.

  25.   Activation is done via quickly clicking on the thumbnail with
  26.   the left mouse button (holding the button down longer 
  27.   will make the User Popup appear).
  28.   After that specific actions may be done by clicking onto the particular
  29.   buttons.
  30.   Alternatively any function of the Popup Menu may also be directly
  31.   accessed via function keys (see chapter "Notes/Keyboard controlling"
  32.   for more information).

  34.   By clicking the close gadget or pressing the ESCape key, the Popup
  35.   menu can be left without executing a function.

  38.   The single functions of the Popup menu:
  39.  
  40.    - User Popup
  41.      ----------
  42.        Opens the User Popup. Alternatively it may also be directly opened
  43.        without calling the Popup menu - by holding down the left
  44.        mouse button.
  45.  
  46.    - View
  47.      ----
  48.       Displays the graphic which is related to the thumbnail.
  49.       Oversized graphics may, depending on the current display module,
  50.       be scrolled with the mouse (Autoscroll).
  51.       Within Program/Display you may specify which display driver
  52.       you prefer to use.
  53.       Pressing the left mouse button or ESCape key will end this function.
  54.       Should the graphic actually be an IFF animation, a menu will
  55.       appear in which you may specify the replay speed (images/second)
  56.       and the number of repeats (loops=0 means repeating endlessly).
  57.       Also, it will try to play the animation directly from hard disk
  58.       if not enough memory for loading the whole animation is available.
  59.       When having defined an external viewer the graphic will be displayed
  60.       using these programs.
  61.       Autoscroll/ESCape key may not necessarily be supported by those.

  63.    - Remove
  64.      ------
  65.       Removes the corresponding entry from the catalogue.
  66.  
  67.    - Delete
  68.      ------
  69.       Removes the corresponding entry from the catalogue and
  70.       additionally deletes the original source graphic from the volume
  71.       (DANGER: The source graphic cannot be restored
  72.                on hard disk after such an operation).

  74.    - Rename
  75.      ------
  76.       This function allows renaming of the corresponding graphic
  77.       file on the volume.
  78.       Also the catalogue files will from now on refer to the new name
  79.       of the graphic.

  81.    - Mark
  82.      ----
  83.       Marks the corresponding entry.
  84.       Entry names will be displayed as white typing on blue background.
  85.       Should the entry additionally been found (SEARCH...), the filename
  86.       is displayed as white typing on black background.
  87.       Marking an entry again will restore it as unmarked.
  88.       Marked entries may be manipulated and/or processed
  89.       from the menu ENTRIES/MARKED.

  91.    - Process
  92.      -------
  93.       Starts the image processing module of PMPro. A detailed description
  94.       can be found in the chapter "Image processing".

  96.    - Convert
  97.      -------
  98.       Allows conversion of the corresponding graphic into another
  99.       graphic file format or to another colour depth.
  100.       A detailed description of those functions can be found in
  101.       the chapter about conversion of detected and marked entries.

  103.    - Information
  104.      -----------
  105.       A menu will appear which contains information about
  106.       save path, size, screen mode, creation date, colour depth, etc.
  107.       related to the selected graphic. Additionally, for each graphic
  108.       two patterns (comments) and an image description may be entered.
  109.       All details entered must be confirmed with RETURN!
  110.       The buttons Display, Mark, etc. are simply equivalent to the
  111.       functions with the same name of the Popup menu.

  116.    - Print
  117.      -----
  118.  
  119.       Prints the graphic on a connected printer.
  120.

  122.    --> TurboPrint professional 3.0 or greater installed
  123.        ================================================

  125.        TP-DM
  126.        -----
  127.        This function starts the Printmanager of TurboPrint
  128.        professional. A file requester appears where the name of
  129.        the graphic will have already been placed.
  130.        You just have to confirm with OK!
  131.        Also the screen mode for displaying the raster graphics
  132.        will be taken from PMPro.
  133.        Should you own TurboPrint Pro 3.0+ you should only use this
  134.        function since direct printing does not allow colour reduction or
  135.        reducing the resolution. For more information on how to use
  136.        the Printmanager please read your manual of TurboPrint Pro.

  138.        Please note that printing animation's are not possible.
  139.  
  140.        After printing the graphic you may have to close the Printmanager
  141.        to be able to continue working with Picture Manager.
  142.  
  143.   NOTE: Should you own Turboprint Professional 4, you are able
  144.   to use all functions of the Printmanager. All settings made in the
  145.   printing menu of Picture Manager (print size, shape, position) will
  146.   be directly passed to the Print Manager and will not have to be entered
  147.   again. Also selection of the PRINT function will directly use
  148.   the Printmanager.

  150.   When using TurboPrint professional 3 or greater, PMPro
  151.   contains an additional feature for you:
  152.   Should the graphic to be printed have been written in a format
  153.   TurboPrint does not know, PMPro automatically converts this
  154.   graphic to a format which TurboPrint is able to handle (all
  155.   in the background) and then passes this temporary graphic to
  156.   the PrintManager of TurboPrint.
  157.   With PMPro TurboPrint is able to print more than 25 graphic file
  158.   formats.

  161.    --> TurboPrint professional not installed
  162.        =====================================
  163.  
  164.        The printer settings as specified within the Workbench's
  165.        preferences will be used. A menu will appear with the
  166.        following settings needing to be made :
  167.  
  168.          * size of the printing in cm (entering one value will cause
  169.            the other to be adjusted also, so that the width/height ratio
  170.            will be changed to keep the graphic's view correct).
  171.  
  172.          * position of the printing (centred or left)
  173.  
  174.          * selection of the shape to be printed. A box will appear
  175.            around the scaled graphics so that there is also
  176.            a visual control over the area to be printed.
  177.            The following values are possible to be entered:
  178.  
  179.             x offset: x position of the starting pixel (in pixels)
  180.             y offset: y position of the starting pixel (in pixels)
  181.             width   : width of the area to be printed (in pixels)
  182.             height  : height of the area to be printed (in pixels)

  185.             Note: All details entered have to be confirmed with RETURN.

  189.    - DPaint IV
  190.      ---------
  191.        This function puts Picture Manager to the background, starts
  192.        DPaintIV and loads the corresponding graphic into DPaint.
  193.        Please note that DPaint does not support image formats other
  194.        than IFF.
  195.  
  196.    - Personal Paint
  197.      --------------
  198.        This function puts Picture Manager to the background, starts
  199.        PPaint and loads the corresponding graphic into PPaint.
  200.        Please note that PPaint may not support all of the image formats
  201.        which PMPro does, if an appropriate Datatype is not present.

  203.        Notes about DPaintIV, PPAINT:
  204.        -----------------------------
  205.        * It should be noted that enough memory must be available for
  206.          execution of this function. About 400-500KB memory for
  207.          DPaint/PPaint and in addition, the CHIP memory needed for
  208.          the graphic.

  210.        * The menu Program/Settings defines under which path and
  211.          name the program DPaint/PPaint can be found and started.
